2022 Holiday Crochet Along Pattern

Choose colors for overall blanket

Color A is the very center color, two large squares, and an accent color in two large corner rectangles. Color B is the center side squares color and the main color in all 4 large corner rectangles. Color C is the center corner squares, the large side rectangles, and an accent color in two large corner rectangles. Color D is the border color throughout as well as an accent color in two large corner squares.

Choose what you would like to be the border color first (Color D) then choose Color A- which is a dominant color of the overall blanket. Between the last two colors, pick Color B and C- Color C is used in more solid components in the overall blanket design.

With Color A | Tunisian Crochet Simple Stitch Small Center Square

Explanation of Tunisian Crochet

Return Ch: ch 1.

End Stitch: insert hook into both loops at end (front and back), yo and pull through, ch 1.

Return Pass: (yo, pull through 2 loops on hook) across until there’s one loop left on the hook.

Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS): insert hook from right to left under the next vertical bar, yo and pull through sp, keep loop on hook

Binding Off Row: Instead of picking up the entire row of loops, the loops are dropped as you go to give a nice edge. Pick up the next st (same way as TSS in this case- vertical bars), yarn over and pull through both loops on hook,  repeat across and fasten off.

With size I hook (only need this for this chain!), Ch 18.

Row 1: With H Tunisian/Afghan hook, roll chain over to see back bumps. Loop on hook counts as first loop. Insert hook into 2nd back bump, yo, and pull through, keeping loop on hook. Repeat for each sp (back bump) across, keeping all loops on hook (18 loops on hook). Work return ch. Work return pass.

Row 2: skip first sp, TSS across to end (18 loops on hook), work end st. Work return pass.
