Is it really ten seconds a skein?
Three required taps — weight, color, amount band — was the bar this tool had to clear to ship, so that’s the number I built it around. If you stop to photograph every skein and write tasting notes, it’ll take longer — but that’s you having fun, not the tool demanding it.
What about exact yardage, dye lots, purchase price?
Deliberately not here. Rough yardage bands are enough to answer “is there a hat in this?” — and every field beyond three is how stash logs die. Precision was the flaw, not the feature.
Do I have to log my whole stash first?
No, and please don’t try in one sitting. Start with one shelf, or just the yarn you touch this week. A half-logged stash that’s alive beats a complete one you abandoned.
